It was a splendid day and my roommate had collected some change from returning empties to the depot. We walked to the cafe together and talked about how we are going to order food and coffee, but we were about to change our mind last minute, yet we ended up at Tim Horton's. One of the girl's who worked there asked my friend never to bring her there again, so I felt uncomfortable as all the visits I have had to Tim Horton's were sacred and held a lot of meaning to me, my classmates and family. We ordered the coffee quickly and ate sweet pastries outside and drank our one coffee that we shared. This was one of the worst visit I had, although staff was well presented and dressed and professional in preparing our order in a timely manner and courteous demeanor. In the past I always went to Tim Horton's to study, or discuss politics, current affairs and art with my friends, classmates and neighbours. The restaurant's I went to were always well maintained, and lit with Neon lighting just like this one. The interior design was always consistent and there was music playing in the background. I moved to Surrey 2 years ago and just couldn't find any restaurant that served good old fashion home cooked greasy spoon diner fare. I spotted Round-Up Cafe on a drive by and decided to pull over and try it out. They refurbished the chairs to a fabulous sparkly silver. It is cozy and comfy and very clean and the owners are extremely friendly. I ordered a soup for my toddler and a special for myself. I was surprised the special came with a soup and a desert which was nice for $12. Coffee is $2.10 and they only charge once and are excellent with refills. Food was 'just like grandma used to make' very tasty. Soup was a bit to peppery for my taste buds. My main was excellent but if you don't want gravy, you need to order it on the side or they pour it on. Coffee was excellent. My son loved the vanilla pudding - another unexpected surprise. The restaurant was packed at lunch on a weekday. This is a restaurant I would recommend Grandad to visit. Nice old fashion 1940s diner feel with good home cooking. Lire plus
