Be aware there's always a waiting line for breakfast at Melissa's. That alone should tell you how good it is. The servers are great and can become overworked especailly in ski season as customers are rushing for breakfast to catch the next bus up to the ski hills. But we don't ski so our server could get a breath and not have to rush. The food is excellent and service is great. The only thing I'd like to see is senior protions of some of the larger breakfasts the Eggs benny come 1/2 portion but none of the other signiture breakfasts do. You get the feeling that this restaurant might be good judging by the line-up of people waiting for a table. We went on warm weekend evening so did have to wait to get a spot on the patio, but it was worth it. The service was excellent despite the restaurant being so busy. The food was amazing and the value was unexpected - Order a one-piece dinner and you get 2 pieces of fish, order 2 pieces and you get 3, etc. Don't let the line-up deter you, this place is great. So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant. The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. Personally I manage a local hotel and we send our guests there time after time. The food is excellent and consistant whether it is just their gourmet pizza's or full dinner entre's. Desserts are to die for especially the creme framboise. The service is always personable and efficient. Their wine list is the best in town and they have won many awards. Stopped by here on a road trip in December. As soon as we walked in the guy struck up a conversation and was very friendly. We ordered one piece and fries each. He gave us two good sized pieces and tons of fries. He offered us his “never ending fries”, but with the large portion we did not need to take him up on that. Great food, great service.
