Local pub with small-town feel but a huge atmosphere. Well priced, diverse soul food menu, friendly staff, cottage-rustic vibe and a nice selection of beer. We went on Wednesday Wing night and it was packed by 5:30 with a short line-up to get in. They had a table for us right away in a nice location. One of us wanted wings and asked if there were any dry-rubbed flavours, as there didn't appear to be any on the menu. To our delight they had a dry Cajun flavour that was excellent. Wings themselves were large and meaty and the vegetables that came with them were just enough and freshly cut. All of which was served with a generous stack of napkins and wet-wipes. The other ordered the aptly named "Long-Weekend Burger" complete with cheddar & Swiss, sautéed mushrooms & caramelized onions and opted for sweet-potato fries as a side for an additional cost. (I don't know about you, but whenever there's a "long-weekend" in my circle there's always bacon involved ~ but they had another burger with some on it) The burger itself was huge, juicy, and did not have a lot of added flavouring allowing the true taste of the beef to come through. This allowed the flavour to be somewhat customized with the good selection of condiments delivered to the table. Freshly cut tomatoes & red onion topped it under a nice Kaiser roll. Sweet potato fries were plentiful, crisp, long and lightly dusted with sea salt to be complimented by white or malt vinegar and/or their own house dip. Beers were served in a frosted glass, which compelled us to have more than one ~ otherwise this would be in the $11-25 range! Bathrooms were clean and adequate. House was well-kept. The only gripe we had was the dim lighting which made it hard to read the Trivial Pursuit cards at each table (which were a very nice touch, even though they were obviously an older US edition!) It's rare to have a great dining experience in such a packed house. Overall this was a great meal and it will likely become a default destination if we can't decide where else to try. Lire plus

Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. There aren't many places in the area where one can get fish & chips, unless they drive to Barrie and go to Fancies Fish & Chips. Blue Water Fish & Chips is a small restaurant with a tired decor. Mind you there are historical photos of boats that have travelled Georgian Bay & the Great Lakes and are interesting to look at.. We love the halibut served here. While the portion size is small it is extremely tasty, with mild tasting halibut and a golden batter. After the second or third bite you can taste & feel the grease but isn't that to be expected with deep fried fish? I've never eaten fish & chips that I haven't tasted the grease. We hate it when the restaurant is closed for vacation. We love eating here and they even have lots of newspapers and reading material for those of us that prefer to read while we're eating. All we've ever ordered has been the fish & small chips or else we'll order 2 fish and a small chip each and we never go away hungry. Lire plus

I've eaten here many times since moving to the area and have introduced several friends to it now too. It's a small little place with a hockey theme. The booths are kind of small and can be a little claustrophobic, but there are tables out in the open area as well. The food is usually really good. I recommend their nachos. These are not your usual nachos, but are made with cross-cut potatoes with your nacho fixings on top (beef, jalapenos, cheese, olives, peppers). If you're not a big eater, just have this appetizer and you'll be full. The salads are fresh and there are usually some creative things on the specials board. Soups are good and homemade. And if you're a hockey fan, you might run into a few of the Owen Sound Attack on occasion too. Lire plus

I just wanted to share my wonderful experience that my husband and daughter and I had at the European Bakery. We had a great lunch , the service was exceptional, the server was so nice to us. It was very busy ,but we had our lunch in no time. The soup was a home made and the ruebans amazing. I was so impressed that they offered a great Gluten-Free menu Breakfast and lunch as my Daughter has celiac disease it made our dining experience so much better.to top it off the atmosphere was really nice, everyone was very happy! we ended up taking dessert to go, as well as a gluten free dessert for my daughter!also buying a loaf of fresh bread. Was at Blue Mountain over the Thanksgiving Long Weekend and came across this place. Had read a couple reviews online and was apprehensive of the place but some friends said to try it myself, so I did. The service was great and the food was better than most in the Village at Blue Mountain. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, everyone was very helpful and the prices were reasonable, given the resort environment. I wouldn't hesitate to return and/or tell my friends to check the place out. We went back later in the evening and had a great time dancing and kicking back, as well... Great place all around. The Buffalo Chicken sandwich was fresh and not greasy like so many other places. The chicken breast was plump and juicy. Very flavorful. Accompanied with a side garden salad, it was a crisp, heathy alternative to the usual fried companion... I love this place! It's a small store front family restaurant. As we walked in the door, on the left, is a huge fish shaped menu, virtually from floor to ceiling and hand printed in chalk. It took several minutes to read but was well worth the time. We were greeted by the proprietor, Darcy, who showed us to our table. We talked for a bit and discussed the menu as she described her featured items. I asked about the chips (french fry style). She uses fresh, hand cut, russet potatoes deep frying them to a shade darker than golden brown. These are the chips I have only dreamed of, since childhood, so many years ago. (Today, almost all are frozen, yuck.) The white fish is from the deep cold waters of the Northern Great Lakes No bones about it. The caesar salad was crisp with a tasty dressing. My double order of fish and chips were good for two but perfect for me. No regrets! The cold slaw was finely chopped and delicious Although this is an older building, the washrooms were clean and tidy. We were only in the Wiarton area a total of four days but we liked the fish and chips so much, we went back for a second dinner. Lire plus

Recommend the feta and spinach frittata! The included fruit tidbits are typically really fresh and tasty too. Service is good, friendly and fairly quick food delivery. We dined at the Siamese Gecko last evening for our anniversary. The menu had plenty of options, you could choose from curries, stir frys, and soups. After each meal title, there is a ranking of how spicy the dish is starting at not spicy going up to very, very spicy. I chose item 25-2 (sorry, the name escapes me) because it was under the very, very spicy and it certainly was. Even with my tongue on fire, there was an amazing amount of flavour. It was served on a platter with chicken, green beans, sweet red pepper, Thai basil, kaffir lime and crushed hot peppers. My wife had a squash curry that was delightfully creamy and the squash melted in your mouth. It was a non spicy dish with some sweetness in it and again, plenty of flavour. The prices are excellent, most dishes range from 9.99 to 11.99 and we both brought home half of our dinners. Meals do not come with rice or noodles, they are extra. However it was only 1.99 for a bowl of rice that was more than adequate and the whole cost of the meal was very affordable. Service was adequate, the restaurant was clean including washrooms. My husband and I were recently at the Mill Cafe for lunch with a few friends from out of town. We have been local to the area, but had not been in since the restaurant was renovated. The decor was delightful and vibrant, with unique artwork covering the walls. We were pleasantly greeted by our server who encouraged us to sit wherever we pleased. The menu was fun and fresh and we found it extremely difficult to have to choose from all the delicious items. Our lunch arrived very quickly, and we were more and more pleased with every bite. IT WAS EXTRAORDINARY! We felt very welcomed by both serving and kitchen staff (as this is an open concept restaurant) and we will gladly be back again! ... and again! Lire plus

I spend most weekends in Collingwood. I've eaten in many restaurants in the area, but haven't been to the Post in a while. The last time I was there was under the old ownership and couldn't believe how bland the food was, and how dirty and unkept the restaurant was. I counted no less than 5 dead flies on the window sills. I previously had the baked penne carbonara and it had no flavour. The waiter told me they used 2 % milk instead of cream ! I heard there were new owners and decided to give it a try last week with my husband and two friends. The place was spotless (and no dead flies !), service incredible and one of the best meals we've all had in a while. We especially loved the curry and halibut & chips, and pasta. Amazing desserts ! Today was the first day I had been there in years, and things have changed... For the better :) I took my children there so they could see the streetcar like I did when I was younger. All of the staff was warm and welcoming, the streetcar was closed when I arrived but they overheard my childrens disappointment and opened the doors just for us. We were served promptly, and our food was ready in no time. Which I know for me is important when you take out your kids cause they can be soo impatient. My burger was cooked just the way I like it and my cheese was actually melted on which doesn't always happen in the fast food business. The onion rings were a little different than what I remember but they had a good combination of a crisp outside and a soft batter inside. My kids had more of my shake then I did but they seemed to love it lol. I will deffinately be goin back this summer on my way tothe cottage, it's so worth waiting for. Oh. Before I forget, parents be warned they don't have kids burgers, only nuggets which I thought were actually a great portion size. Oh and they're a cash only business they have an ATM, the only annoying thing about stopping in was the people in front of me in line didn't see the signs that clearly say cash only and held every one up. This place is fabulous! We managed to get seats at the bar ( having realized that you need a reservation; plenty of other have the same idea when it comes to Sunday Brunch... ) and were treated to a culinary feast with one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The menu is short but extremely well designed with each dish a perfect harmony of exquisite flavors. My boyfriend and I shared the Salmon Benny and the BLT, both were mouth wateringly amazing. We finally made a return visit to this charming little restaurant. We were not disappointed! We all enjoyed our choices from the new menu. My ribs were excellent -juicy, tender, meaty, tasty.
