We have visited many Italian reataurants throughout Ontario from Brockville to Niagara Falls, Oshawa to North Bay and Avanti's in Oshawa is number one. Not because we live here, because of the food, the service, the friendly atmosphere and the cleanliness of this establishment. Their Fusilli in Bianco is our favorite. We have dined there many times before Oshawa Generals Hockey games and Shows at the newly renovated Regent Theatre. And we are so proud to mention Avanti's everywhere we go. We order from here regularly, we have only ordered the Thai items a couple of times. WE LOVE THE HAKKA dishes. It is very difficult to find any good hakka restaurants in the area especially oshawa/whitby area. Our regular dishes are the: -Bombay chicken -any of the chili or manchurian chicken or beef or shrimp (the shrimp dishes are a little smaller than the chicken or beef )but very tasty. -pad thai/ hakka special chow mein We really like the fact that they have come to know us so when we ask for extra spicy it is extra spicy, never been disappointed. If you are into this type of food then it is definately worth a try. We don't eat in because of our kids but the atmosphere seems very pleasant when we have picked up food. I Lire plus

Went to DC with the child for open house and decided to look for lunch on the way to 401. We passed it and turned back as we didn't want fast food. It's a tiny place with 2 tables and 4 rickety chairs but we are happy we stopped there. The girl (owner's daughter it turns out) behind the counter was sweet and efficient. She made us 4 samosas & 4 shawarmas that were delicious and filling. The owner provided 2 free bottles of water for our 1st time there as well as a orange drink for the two guys ahead of us, also their 1st time. Friendly, fun and good food too. We put the tables together and had an excellent lunch. There's just no elegant way to eat shawarmas so you need lots of napkins. Wouldn't want to eat there in the winter as it probably gets quite cold in there. Lire plus

If you are looking for a spot to hang with your friends and watch the game then you definitely need to hit up Whitby St.Louis. They pride themselves on their staff as well as ensuring that any major game that is playing is on every TV. This means hockey, baseball, football, UFC, golf- you name it they have it. Oh and the wings, fries and garlic dip is delicious. My personal favorite is the Hot n Honey wing sauce or the Suicide wing sauce. I would suggest going on Tuesday for wing night, or on Thurs or Fri which is their busiest nights. They have a huge regular following from 3pm to 5:30pm so if you are looking for some company at the bar, this is the time to go! Lire plus

Went for a friends party, service was a little slow but it's to be expected when you're with a large group and the place is busy. The music was good, and not too loud so that you can't have a conversation, which I like while I'm out for dinner with friends. I had the Baja Quesadilla(3 friends did as well), the wife got a poutine. It was so good I went back for another one a week later. Good to see a traditional type place with a not so traditional menu. They have everything you'd expect them to (burgers, wings etc..) but they had some great choices that really made me appreciate the variety in their menu. I'm definitely going back again. It's going to be hard not to try that Baja Quesadilla though, it was a big hit with everyone that ordered it. Lire plus
